Display Performance and Fidelity Problems with Intels HD4000 Graphics on Win7x64

Normally the Intel HD graphics (introduced with the Sandy Bridge CPUs) works fine with ARES Commander based products. However there seems to be an exception: The Intel HD 4000 graphics causes problems if the driver has version 9.x. Unacceptable performance leaks in such configuration has been reported by some users and could be reconstructed by our developers.
Symptom: The graphic cursor moves very tough. In large drawings the program becomes unusable.
These problems concern a few of Intel Core-i Desktop Processors of the 3rd generation (Ivy-Bridge: i3-3225, i3.3245, i5-3475S, i7-3770). Unfortunately the most Intel mobile Ivy-Bridge CPUs (i3-3xxx, i5-3xxx, i7-3xxx), built in into a lot of notebooks, are affected too.

Investigating this problem we found that it's caused by version 9.x of the Intel HD4000 graphics driver. In the version 10.x and later Intel has resolved this problem substantially, but in each case the color depth must be set to 32 bit.
Unfortunately not all computer manufacturers provide this driver update for their notebooks / PCs. On the other hand it's not just a simple click-and-install process for the updated original Intel HD graphic drivers on such notebooks. Instead you have to uninstall the current and to install the new driver version 10.x manually.
So the following steps (applied as Administrator) may help to solve the problem.

1. Download and Extract the Intel driver

Download the original updated Intel HD Graphics Driver (.zip-archive) from here (Win7/8/8.1 x64 only).
Extract the ZIP into any folder on a local drive. Notice the selected target folder.

2. Uninstall the current driver

Open the device manager: Start menu → Computer (left mouse click) → Manage...
On the left side under "System Tools" select the Device Manager. On the right expand "Display adapters".
Select "Intel(r) HD Graphics 4000" and right mouse click on it, from the context menu select "Uninstall".

In the upcoming dialog "Confirm device uninstall" switch on: "Delete the driver software for this device" then press o.k.

Finally confirm the necessary restart of your computer, to complete the uninstallation.

3. Install the downloaded and extracted new driver

Open the device manager: Start menu → Computer (left mouse click) → Manage...
On the left side select the Device Manager. On the right expand "Display adapters"
Then select "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" and right mouse click on it.
From the context menu click "Update Driver Software..."

In the upcoming dialog "Update Driver Software / How do you want search for driver software?" select "Browse my computer for Driver Software"

In the next dialog "Update Driver Software / Browse for driver Software on your computer" click "Browse.."
In the following folder selection box walk into the target folder (remember 1. above), there select the sub-folder "Graphics" and press OK.
Back in the dialog press "Next".

The new driver will be installed. To finish this process you have to restart the computer.

Notes:

If you have installed the new driver 10.x.x.x successfully, but the problems keep left, then ensure, that you have:

1. Activated an AERO theme of Windows 7, but not the classic one.

2. Set the color depth for all displays to 32 bit.

Btw: There are some existing knowledge base and forums resources discussing and handling similar Intel HD related problems and solutions for other software using OpenGL. E.g. some 3D games could be got runnable too, after this forced installation of the original Intel HD Graphics driver.
